ChartHop connects to your HRIS.
OrgTool doesn't need one.

Cloud org-chart tools in ChartHop's category typically live wired into your HRIS — that's genuinely useful for always-current headcount and self-service. OrgTool trades that live sync for something different: nothing about your workforce ever has to leave your machine, and the restructuring analysis (adverse impact, WARN, hash-stamped audit packs) is the point, not an add-on.

Frequently asked questions

Answers restate claims verified file-by-file against the current build — see claims/ in the site repo. Last verified July 2026.

Do I have to replace ChartHop or my HRIS to use OrgTool?
No — they solve different problems and coexist cleanly. Keep the HRIS-connected tool for live headcount, directories, and self-service. Use OrgTool as the workbench for the sensitive work: restructuring scenarios, RIF analysis, and anything you don't want living in a tenant.
Why doesn't OrgTool sync with the HRIS?
In v1, deliberately: a CSV export auto-maps on import and resolves manager references in your browser, so no standing copy of workforce data exists outside your machine — a property many of our users are buying specifically. HRIS connectors are on our roadmap, built on the same local analysis engine. Today, if always-current sync is the requirement, the HRIS-adjacent category is the right buy — and the two coexist well.
Which is better for RIF planning?
RIF analysis is OrgTool's reason to exist: live adverse-impact (EEOC 80% rule, Fisher's exact test) and WARN evaluation with a hash-stamped audit pack are the product, not an add-on. Adverse-impact and WARN evaluation are on Pro; the countersigned audit pack is on Enterprise. HRIS-adjacent org tools aren't typically built for that — as the table says, at category level.
Can I move data from ChartHop into OrgTool?
Any CSV export with name, title, manager, and department auto-maps on import; extra columns like grade, email, location, and employee IDs map too. It takes minutes, and it never uploads.
Are the ChartHop-side claims researched?
No — deliberately. ChartHop-side cells describe cloud HRIS-adjacent org tools as a category, and the page says so. Verify against ChartHop's own documentation before quoting it. The OrgTool column is verified against our code, file by file.
In one paragraph

ChartHop-category tools live wired into your HRIS — genuinely useful for always-current headcount and employee self-service. OrgTool trades that live sync for a different property: nothing about your workforce ever has to leave your machine, and the restructuring analysis — live adverse-impact and WARN evaluation, hash-stamped audit packs — is the point rather than an add-on. Many teams run both: the HRIS-connected tool for operations, OrgTool as the workbench for the plans that must survive scrutiny.
